Introducing Moo Brew Pilsner, a brew that takes a maverick approach to a classic, crafted with care by Moo Brew right here in Tasmania. Traditionally you'd make a Pilsner in Pilsen, but Moo Brew don't. They make theirs in Tasmania, and even then they make it in the German style. And just to be a bit cheeky, they use an American hop (Centennial) as the bittering hop, because they're mavericks!

Key Information and Highlights:

  • Brewery: Moo Brew
  • Style: German-Style Pilsner
  • ABV: 5.0%
  • Volume: 375ml Can
  • Awards: This Pilsner is a bit of a champion, with plenty of awards to its name at the Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA), including Trophy – Best Pilsner 2018. It's a seriously acclaimed drop.

Flavour Profile:

  • Appearance: Pours a brilliant, clear straw gold with a bright white head that sticks around. It comes in their shiniest can, too!
  • Aroma: The aroma is clean and crisp, with subtle floral and spicy notes from the hops (Centennial and Spalt) and a hint of bready malt.
  • Taste: On the palate, it's incredibly clean and refreshing. There's a delicate balance between the bready malt sweetness and a firm, but not aggressive, hop bitterness (IBU: 30). The result is exceedingly clean, balanced, refined, and weirdly true-to-style despite their maverick approach. It's got a light body and a super crisp, dry finish that's exactly what you want from a good Pilsner.

Food Pairings:

Enhance your Pilsner experience with dishes that are a good match for its clean and crisp character, such as:

  • Fish and Chips: The classic pairing! The crispness and carbonation of the Pilsner cut through the richness of the fried fish and chips, providing a refreshing contrast.
  • Grilled Chicken Salad: The light body and clean finish of the Pilsner won't overpower a delicate grilled chicken salad, and the subtle hop notes can complement any herbs in the dressing.
  • Sausage Rolls: A true Aussie classic! The clean, bready notes of the Pilsner work well with the pastry and savoury filling of a sausage roll.

Conclusion:

If you appreciate a well-made, clean, and refreshing lager, the Moo Brew Pilsner is a top choice. It's got that classic Pilsner character with a touch of Moo Brew's own flair and has been recognised with plenty of awards. Perfect for a hot day, a session with mates, or just when you want a seriously good beer that's easy to drink. Grab a can and see what all the fuss is about!
