Producer Background:

Stoke Wines is dedicated to producing expressive, site-driven wines from Kangaroo Island, employing sustainable practices and minimal intervention. The 2022 Cabernet Shiraz is grown by the winery, handpicked, and co-fermented with native yeasts. After fermentation, the wine is basket pressed and aged for 12 months in old French oak, then blended to achieve balance and complexity. The result is a wine that captures the essence of the vineyard’s environment—rich, refined, and beautifully integrated.

Flavour Profile:

  • Appearance: Deep, dark purple with a vibrant hue
  • Nose: Aromas of blackcurrant, ripe plum, and spicy notes, layered with hints of cedar and violet
  • Palate: Full-bodied and velvety, with concentrated dark fruit flavors of blackberry and cherry, complemented by savory spice, fine tannins, and a subtle earthiness. The oak aging adds depth and a gentle toastiness, while the balanced structure offers a long, seamless finish.

Food Pairings:

  • Roasted lamb or beef: highlighting the wine’s richness and spice
  • Rich vegetable stews or mushroom ragout: for a hearty vegetarian option
  • Grilled sausages or barbecued meats: for casual gatherings
  • Aged hard cheeses like cheddar or gouda: that enhance its depth

Serving and Storage:

Serve at 16–18°C to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity and balanced tannins
With careful cellaring, this wine will evolve over the next 8–10 years, gaining additional layers of spice, earthiness, and finesse
