Introducing Moo Brew IPA, the beer that started as a bit of a joke but turned into a core range legend, crafted with care by Moo Brew right here in Tasmania. Moo Brew said they'd never make an IPA 'cause Walshie wasn't a fan. Then they went and did it as a bit of a laugh, and blow me down, they actually liked it!
Key Information and Highlights:
- Brewery: Moo Brew
- Style: West Coast IPA
- ABV: 6.66%
- Volume: 375ml Can
- Awards: A cracking West Coast IPA from Moo Brew, celebrated for its bold hop character and surprisingly drinkable nature. It's a ripper that's here to stay.
Flavour Profile:
- Appearance: Pours a clear, bright amber with a decent head that sticks around. Looks like a proper IPA should.
- Aroma: The aroma is an explosion of tropical fruit – think mango, passionfruit, and citrus – mixed with that classic piney, resinous character of a West Coast IPA. They've chucked in Simcoe, Citra, and Mosaic hops for a serious aromatic hit.
- Taste: On the palate, it delivers a solid hit of hop bitterness right from the get-go (IBU: 65). The tropical fruit flavours are there, but it's balanced by that resinous, slightly piney bitterness. It's made in the West Coast IPA style but built for drinkability. It's got a medium body and a dry finish that makes you want another sip. And yeah, it's 6.66% ABV. Seemed like a good idea at the time!
Food Pairings:
Enhance your IPA experience with dishes that are a good match for its bold character, such as:
- Spicy Curry: The assertive bitterness of the IPA will cut through the richness and heat of a spicy curry, while the tropical hop notes can complement some of the curry's spices.
- Burgers with Bold Toppings: A juicy burger with strong flavours like blue cheese, bacon, or a spicy sauce can stand up to the hop intensity of this IPA.
- Fish and Chips: The crispness and bitterness of the IPA can provide a refreshing contrast to the richness of fried fish and chips.
Conclusion:
If you're an IPA fan who appreciates a good whack of hops and a solid bitter backbone, the Moo Brew IPA is right up your alley. It's got all the classic West Coast characteristics but with a bit of Moo Brew's own spin on it. It's a flavour bomb that's still surprisingly easy to knock back. Give this core range legend a crack!
