Producer Background:
Stargazer is the personal project of winemaker Samantha Connew, established in 2012 in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. Named after Abel Tasman, the Dutch explorer who first sighted Tasmania, Stargazer reflects a spirit of discovery and innovation. Sam’s approach emphasizes sustainability, native yeasts, and gentle handling, resulting in wines that are detailed, elegant, and full of character. Recognized as one of Tasmania’s most exciting small producers, Stargazer’s wines are celebrated for their precision, individuality, and cool-climate freshness.
Flavour Profile:
-
Appearance: Bright ruby with a hint of garnet.
-
Nose: Lifted aromas of red cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, layered with hints of spice, rose petal, and a subtle forest floor note.
- Palate: Supple yet precise, with juicy red fruits carried by lively acidity and framed by silky tannins. A fine mineral thread runs through to the long, elegant, and quietly complex finish. Both charming in youth and capable of developing nuance with age.

- Roasted poultry or duck, which highlight its delicate fruit and spice.
- Mushroom-based dishes or vegetable terrines that enhance its earthy notes.
- Soft cheeses and charcuterie for a refined tasting experience.
Cellaring:
